Bar-Navi, Eli. "Suria aderomit asher lechofo shel ayam atichon"
Title trans.: "Southern Syria, on the Coast of the Meditteranean"
What if: The state of Israel was never formed, and there was consequently no Palestinian nationalistic movement.
Summary: Palestine would have become a part of Syria, which as a result becomes the dominant Arab power. Without Israel as an ally, the British and the French wouldn't have invaded Egypt in 1956. And with no Israel, the Arabs would have been less unified without a common enemy, but on the international scene, the balance of powers between the US and the Soviet Union would have remained much the same with neither forming alliances in the Mideast.
