Ditfurth, Christian von. Der 21. Juli
Title trans.: The 21st of July
Divergence: 1944 CE
What if: Hitler was killed by von Stauffenberg's bomb in July 1944, but the conspirators were
too weak to take control of Germany and instead had to come to terms with Himmler's SS and
others. Racial policies are moderated but the war nevertheless continues, and the German
atomic weapons program receives renewed and strong support.
Summary: In 1953, after the European war has ended in stalemate, a former spy is convinced he
must kill Himmler in order to reunite with a former lover he once thought dead.
