Summary: Nine hundred years after Alexander, the Delian League and the Middle Kingdom remain locked in perpetual war. An Athenian academic leads an attempt to retrieve a piece of celestial matter from Helios to use in a weapon of mass destruction, but his project is plagued by Middler attacks, internal sabotage and ultimately by his own doubts about the Good of the project.
