What if: After the independence war at 1949, Israeli leaders decided to allow immigration by Ashkenazi Jews but not the eastern Jews.
Summary: Israel suffers from a grave demographic crisis, loses its legitimacy in the eyes of the eastern Jews, and suffers and growing military weakness. Eventually, it is occupied by American peacekeeping troops to stop the war between Israel and the Palestinians.
