Stirling, S.M. The Domination of the Draka
Divergence: 1776 CE
What if: British officer Patrick Ferguson, inventor of the breech-loading rifle, survived and
prospered during the American Revolution. Also, after the Netherlands declared war, Britain
captured its Cape colony and later used it to resettle Tory refugees from America.
Series note: Series containing Marching through Georgia, Under the Yoke, The Stone Dogs,
and Drakon, plus the "shared-world" anthology Drakas! The first three novels
constitute a self-contained trilogy — and have been published as such in the omnibus
The Domination — and contain much supplemental information in appendices.
Comments: Discussed in Andreas Morlok's "The Domination of the Draka oder: 'You
don't know how happy you are, boys!'", q.v. Two additional volumes, Unto Us a Child
(a direct sequel to Drakon) and Laughter of the Guns (a prequel to the whole
series), were at one time planned, but by mid 2003 Stirling had moved on to other projects.
